Looking for experienced European car servicing in Brendale? Brendale Automotive can help keep your European or luxury vehicle running reliably with manufacturer-specified servicing, specialist diagnostics and experienced technicians.

European vehicles can combine advanced engines, sophisticated electronics and complex safety and driver-assistance systems. While they should be maintained according to the manufacturer's service schedule, having a workshop familiar with European vehicles can make a difference when it comes to accurate diagnostics, servicing and preventative maintenance.

At Brendale Automotive, our technicians have experience servicing and diagnosing a wide range of European and luxury vehicles, including Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Citroen, Ferrari, Fiat, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Peugeot, Lexus, Porsche and Volvo, among many others.

Not necessarily, but European vehicles can have specific servicing requirements, diagnostic procedures, oils, parts and electronic systems that require the right technical knowledge and equipment.

As Repco Auto-Tech training programme members, Brendale Automotive technicians have access to technical information, service schedules and diagnostic resources covering a wide range of makes and models. This helps the workshop follow the correct servicing requirements rather than relying on a generic service routine.

Modern European vehicles can also require manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment to identify faults within engine management, transmission, safety, body and electronic systems. Correct diagnosis is important because replacing parts based only on symptoms can become an expensive exercise.

Do European cars need a specialist mechanic?

There is no single service interval that applies to every European vehicle. The recommended interval depends on the make, model, engine, age, kilometres travelled and manufacturer's servicing schedule.

Some vehicles also have different requirements for normal and severe driving conditions. Keeping up with scheduled servicing helps identify wear, fluid deterioration and developing faults before they become larger repair problems.

How often should a European car be serviced?

In Australia, you don't generally have to use the vehicle manufacturer's dealership simply because your vehicle is still covered by a manufacturer's warranty. However, servicing should be carried out correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.

Using an experienced independent workshop can provide an alternative to dealership servicing while still allowing your vehicle to receive the scheduled maintenance it requires. Always retain your service records and check the specific requirements for your vehicle.

Can an independent workshop service a European car under warranty?

European car servicing isn't necessarily more expensive for every vehicle, but some models can have higher servicing costs due to specialised parts, fluids, diagnostic equipment and the technical expertise required.

Regular servicing is an important part of managing these costs. Finding problems early can help prevent a relatively minor maintenance issue from developing into a more significant repair.

Is European car servicing more expensive?

Whether you drive an Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volkswagen, Volvo, Land Rover or another European or luxury vehicle, Brendale Automotive can help with scheduled servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance and repairs.

Our technicians use current technical information and diagnostic resources to help service your vehicle according to its requirements, while providing the convenience of an experienced independent workshop in Brendale.

If your European car is due for a service, has a warning light showing or you simply want an experienced workshop to look after it, contact Brendale Automotive and book your European car service today.

Brendale Automotive Car Service & Repairs

Brendale Automotive provide Specialist Braking & Suspension Testing.

Find your car rocking and rolling when you corner? Not braking the way it used to? Thinking of upgrading your suspension? A Safe-T-Stop test will soon have you back on track.

Your car's braking and suspension play an important part in making sure that your car stops quickly and safely. Here at Brendale Automotive in Brendale we take your safety very seriously. This is why we have invested in a state of the art Safe-T-Stop testing machine and we are an approved Safe-T-Stop Testing Centre.

Your family's safety can be trusted with a Safe-T-Stop test. It provides an added safety inspection that goes far beyond a standard check and road test to scientifically test your braking capacity and ensure maximum stopping performance.

A Safe-T-Stop test is carried out on the electronically accurate PlateTronic test equipment. Safe-T-Stop test lanes measure and simulate a vehicle's brake performance in real-life conditions, exactly as it would happen in an emergency stop on the road!

Along with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your car will stop straight and in the shortest possible distance in an emergency, having your braking and suspension system in peak operating condition help you save money by minimising tyre drag and tyre wear which can increase fuel costs.

A Safe-T-Stop check will give you a detailed and accurate printed report that will enable the qualified technicians at Brendale Automotive to advise you on any critical adjustments that should be made.

When considering suspension GVM upgrades, it's crucial to ensure your vehicle complies with legal weight regulations. A suspension upgrade may improve load-carrying capacity but can unintentionally exceed your vehicle’s GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) limit. This is where the Safe-T-Stop Brake, Wheel Alignment & Suspension Tester proves invaluable. It accurately assesses the weight distribution over the front and rear axles, which is vital for meeting GVM regulations. By identifying how weight is distributed across the axles, it helps determine whether your suspension upgrade will keep your vehicle within safe and legal limits. Additionally, Brendale Automotive can create a custom suspension package that suits your vehicle’s specific weight, load, and towing requirements, ensuring compliance while maintaining optimal performance.

A Safe-T-Stop test is particularly beneficial when planning a GVM upgrade as it provides precise data on your vehicle's suspension and tyre performance. The system evaluates corner weights, suspension rebound and compression, and tyre drag, offering a clear picture of how your vehicle handles additional loads. This information is essential for selecting the appropriate components, such as springs, shock absorbers, and tyres, to handle increased weight safely and effectively. With the insights provided by the Safe-T-Stop test, you can proceed with your suspension upgrade confidently, knowing your vehicle remains within its legal limits and operates at its best.

CV Joints & Boots: Understanding How They Work and Why They Matter.

CV joints and boots are essential components of your vehicle's drivetrain, responsible for transferring power from the engine to the wheels.

The CV joint, or constant velocity joint, is designed to allow for smooth and efficient power transfer even when the wheels are turning at different speeds, such as when turning or going over bumps.

The boot, which surrounds the CV joint, provides crucial protection from dirt and debris that can damage the joint and cause it to fail.

Without properly functioning CV joints and boots, your vehicle may experience significant issues such as vibrations, difficulty turning, and ultimately a breakdown.

At Brendale Automotive, we offer high-quality CV joint and boot replacements as well as expert installation services to keep your vehicle running smoothly and reliably. Trust us to provide the parts and services you need for optimal performance and longevity.

If there are issues such as a cracked or torn boot or not enough high pressure grease, then the CV joint can fail. Symptoms include poor handling around corners, vibrating or an audible clicking sound whilst cornering.

Contact us at the first sign of trouble because repairing a torn boot and refilling the grease is a relatively cheap and easy procedure but if you leave it you could end up with a failed joint which needs to be replaced. We are located in Brendale and serve many customers in the surrounding areas as well.

Exceptional Care: As a part of the Repco Authorised Service Network of mechanics we have all the latest diagnostic equipment to keep your car running at optimal performance

Ever wondered what a Clutch looks like?

Brake fluid plays a crucial role in the safety of your vehicle by transferring the pressure you apply to the brake pedal to the actual brakes. Without it, your brakes simply wouldn’t function, and as everyone knows, a car without brakes is incredibly dangerous. Even slightly compromised brakes can pose a serious risk.

Brake fluid has a tendency to absorb moisture over time, which can compromise its effectiveness. Brake systems generate high temperatures, and brake fluid is specifically designed to have a high boiling point to prevent it from evaporating. However, when too much moisture builds up, the boiling point is lowered, making the fluid more prone to boiling under heat. This can lead to reduced brake fluid levels, ultimately affecting your vehicle’s braking performance and increasing stopping distances.

Why Is Brake Fluid Replacement Necessary?

In addition to reducing effectiveness, moisture-contaminated brake fluid can lead to corrosion within the braking system. Over time, this can damage components such as the callipers, wheel cylinders, and anti-lock braking systems (ABS). Regular replacement helps to extend the lifespan of these parts and maintain optimal braking performance.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it actively absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment, even through microscopic openings in the brake system. This is why regular maintenance is essential to ensure safety.

Your vehicle’s manufacturer will specify how often the brake fluid should be replaced—typically outlined in the logbook service schedule. At Brendale Automotive, we recommend replacing it every two years as a general guideline. However, it’s equally important to have it checked during each routine service. A professional mechanic can assess the moisture content in the fluid and check for any leaks or other signs of wear that might require earlier attention.

How Often Should Brake Fluid Be Replaced?

Yes, at Brendale Automotive, we provide a comprehensive 65-point vehicle inspection upon request with every full service. This includes a detailed review of your brake fluid, master cylinder, front and rear discs and pads, callipers, cylinders, and more. Our expert mechanics will assess the condition of your braking system and notify you if the brake fluid needs replacing or if any additional brake system repairs or maintenance are required. Regular checks can catch problems early, ensuring your safety on the road.

Maintaining your brake fluid is an essential part of car ownership, and neglecting it could lead to costly repairs or, worse, compromised safety. If you’re due for a brake fluid replacement or simply want peace of mind, book a service with Brendale Automotive in Brendale. Our team will make sure your braking system is in top condition, so you can drive with confidence.

Learn why brake fluid is essential for your vehicle’s safety, how it works, and why regular maintenance by Brendale Automotive is crucial for optimal braking performance and to prevent costly repairs.

Brake Fluid: What It Is and Why It Matters

Brake Fluid: What Is It and Why Do You Need It?

Do you drive an Automatic vehicle? Then you might not even be aware that there is a clutch in your vehicle. Without it, the gears in your car will not change.

Brendale Automotive in Brendale know all about repairing and servicing these systems including clutches, cables and fluids. Learn more below.

The clutch is one of the most important elements of your vehicles driving operation. Your engine is what causes your wheels to spin, but what happens when your car needs to stop? The engine shouldn't stop spinning but the wheels need to. It's the clutch that allows this to happen. The clutch allows the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels to be interrupted while a gear is being changed or while the car is stationary and the engine continues to run.

Some vehicles have hydraulic clutches - when you press the clutch pedal, the clutch fluid moves the pressure from the pedal through to the clutch and disengages the power transmission. Leaking clutch fluid can cause all kinds of problem in your vehicle so it is very important to monitor it regularly. At Brendale Automotive in Brendale we check your clutch fluid, hydraulic system or clutch cables for you in the course of our free 65 Point Vehicle Inspection - which you can request as part of every car service.

You should have your clutch inspected if:

What signs to look for if your clutch is not performing

You notice a burnt ‘toast' or ‘burning rubber' smell in your car, or smoke from under vehicle

Your vehicle is slipping out of gear for no reason

Your clutch is not disengaging fully, or your clutch is sticking or shuddering

If your clutch is showing any of the problems above - it could mean any number of faults. Clutch problems are difficult to diagnose by symptoms alone because many issues cause the same symptoms, depending on the vehicle and type of engine. The best way to deal with clutch shuddering, slipping or noise is contact your local mechanics at Brendale Automotive today.

We can perform clutch diagnostics, service and repairs on most makes and models right here in our Brendale workshop.
